Bus Tour to Mata Ortiz
November 8 @ 8:00 am - November 10 @ 5:00 pm
This is one of the Museum’s most popular events and we’re thrilled to be able to offer the tour again. Mata Ortiz is a small village near Casas Grandes in Chihuahua Mexico known for reviving the Paquimé pottery. The South of the Border Tours bus will depart Patagonia at 8 am on Tuesday, November 8th and will return to Patagonia by 5 pm on Thursday, November 10. We will stay at Hotel Hacienda in Nuevo Casas Grandes for 2 nights. The itinerary includes visiting the Museo de las Culturas del Norte, the archeological site of Paquime, viewing a pottery-making demonstration in Mata Ortiz, dining in the Gadsden Hotel and visiting the Art Car Museum in Douglas and other sites as time allows. Rebecca Orozco, retired anthropology and history instructor for Cochise College and the University of Arizona will provide commentary throughout the tour. Liz Cerepanya and Don Armstrong will provide the musical entertainment.
The $ 670 (double occupancy) fee per museum member covers transportation, entertainment, meals and lodging. There is an additional $50 fee for non-members and an added $100 for single occupancy. For more information, please contact German Quiroga, 520-343-5641, firstname.lastname@example.org
