DESCRIPTION:The Patagonia Museum board is pleased to announce that the Patagonia Museum has been chosen to host the Road to 250: Arizona Traveling Museum. The facility was nominated by Town Manager Ron Robinson and selected by a commission from the Secretary of State’s office\, along with Nogales\, to represent Santa Cruz County. \nThe exhibit\, housed in a custom\, retrofitted semi-trailer\, features an interactive display highlighting Arizona’s role in America’s 250-year history. It will be in Patagonia on the Museum grounds on March 7\, one of 33 stops in the state on a road trip that begins in the original state capital\, Prescott\, on Feb 14. \nProgram details are being developed\, and we hope the community will join us on that day for a unique\, nonpartisan celebration of civic pride.

DESCRIPTION:A screening of the documentary will be followed by an in-person Q & A session with Dr. Deni Seymour.  Donations will benefit the Patagonia Museum. \n“Coronado: The New Evidence explores one of the longest-standing archaeological mysteries in the United States–the land route taken by famed explorer Francisco Vazquez de Coronado who from 1539-1542 was attempting to find vast wealth and fame while traveling north from Mexico. \nThrough the intrepid and tireless work of Arizona-based Dr. Deni Seymour\, we now know where Coronado’s expedition first crossed into what would later become the continental United States. \nThe filmmakers have exclusive access to the Coronado archeological site where our cameras have been rolling for two years as Dr. Seymour unearthed hundreds of Coronado artifacts including a breathtaking 15th-century “wall gun” that is the first firearm to enter what is now the United States. \nThis discovery has dire\, catastrophic far-reaching implications—not only for US history—but for the indigenous people\, the Sobaipuri\, and their descendants\, the Wa:k O’odham\, who first encountered Coronado.” \n
