O’Odham Rancherias

The O’odham people inhabited a large area of desert, foothills and river valleys south from the Gila River (in Arizona), east to the Rio Sonora , west to the Colorado River and south into Sonora, Mexico.

This map displays the seasonal villages occupied by the O’odham early during the Spanish migration in our area of interest. Sonoitac (where the corn grows) is the current location of the Native Seed Search Conservation Farm in Patagonia. This map was reprinted courtesy of the University of Arizona Press from Dr. Thomas Sheridan’s Landscapes of Fraud.
